Learning for business management from human error prevention in aviation safety. “The Dirty Dozen” is the aviation industry term for the twelve most common errors in aviation maintenance and operation caused by human factors. The list has been compiled over decades of studying, reported incidents and analyzing accidents. Examples are “complacency and lack of assertiveness”. Aviation operations are to a large extent about following tried and tested procedures. As passengers we instinctively feel that experimentation, taking risk, and tolerating mistakes are aspects we don’t want in aviation.
